At Soben, we believe that the foundation of a successful project lies in clear communication, aligned objectives, and genuine collaboration. That’s why our team recently facilitated a Map Day in Groningen, The Netherlands – bringing together our consultants, contractors and client representatives to map out project interfaces, responsibilities, and milestones.
The result? A unified project vision, strengthened accountability, and renewed momentum toward achieving the client’s end-date objectives.
A shared path to success
During the session, everyone came together to define what they would deliver and what support they needed from others. These inputs were captured on colour-coded notes and placed along a full-room project timeline, creating a visual map of the journey ahead.
This interactive format helped identify dependencies, overlaps, and risks early on, allowing teams to address challenges collaboratively. By the end of the day,
the group had agreed on an updated timeline, clear next steps, and ownership of key actions.
High engagement throughout
“It’s a powerful way to identify team strengths and areas for improvement. When people look each other in the eye and make a personal commitment, it builds trust, clarity, and shared accountability.”
– Dominique Chui, Soben part of Accenture
The session received unanimous positive feedback from all attendees, including representatives from equipment vendors. Everyone praised the value of open dialogue and face-to-face commitment
This sense of shared purpose ensures that Map Day outcomes endure well beyond the session – creating a reference point that teams return to months later as they deliver on their promises.
Planning for impact
Coordinating a Map Day
takes thoughtful preparation.
The Groningen session was planned well in advance to secure attendance across multiple stakeholders.
Despite logistical challenges, participation was strong – and the enthusiasm in the room made it clear that the time investment was worthwhile.
“Clients recognise the value of these sessions. They reduce risk by ensuring every party is aligned and accountable for delivery.”
– Jeroen Menheere, Soben part of Accenture
Led by a collaborative team
The Map Day was driven by Soben’s integrated team, combining expertise in planning, project management, and delivery:
- Dom Chiu – Planner & Lead Facilitator
- Lee Brooker – Construction / Contractor Coordinator
- Tim Murray – Off-site Works PM
- Rachel Cunningham – Session Host & Organiser
- Jeroen Menheere – Visiting Director
With leadership endorsement and client involvement, the session reinforced Soben’s commitment to collaborative project delivery and outcome-focused planning.
